New Group Names

2012-names
This week we found out that our desk groups were going to get names.

They are "Girlzone", "The Kingz", and "2 Directions".

If our whole desk group is working well, on task, and is well behaved, then we receive points.

Which ever desk group has the most points at the end of the term, they will receive a reward.

Room One's Waka

P574

Over the last few weeks we have been working on our class Waka.
We worked in small groups, each responsible for a different part.
One group came up with words that relate to our class working well together.
Another made paddles for the words to go on.
Another made the people to hold the paddles and represent our class.
Another made the Waka big enough to hold all the people.
Another made the background for the Waka to exist in.

Welcome to Room One 2012

Firstly, my apologies for taking so long to get started this year. As you can imagine, the first few weeks are incredibly busy, as we all get back into the swing of things, doing tests, naming stationery, and much much more.

Goal Setting interviews have been booked and will be sent home today. Thank you very much for an awesome response. I believe once again, Room One has the highest number of returns for this event!
I look forward to meeting you all.

Reading Rotation

Every Monday to Thursday we have Reading rotation. These are a part of being able to teach students at their levels, and they can learn at the level that is right for them.

Room One has a range of activities during Reading rotation. These might include working with the Teacher, Independent Reading, Literacy Games (Scrabble, Boggle), Spelling Square, Research projects on the laptops, and Plays from the School Journals. With the addition of the Interactive Whiteboard, there have been a variety of word games available, such as Spiderman 2 - Web of Words.

What makes a Cube?

In Maths this week we had a quick little warm up with a large number of nets of potential cubes. For some of them we could work it out just by thinking internally, but a couple of them were a bit harder. We decided making them was going to be the best way to check if they made a cube or not.

One of our students, CP, made a few cubes/boxes/ and glued them together to make this very cool net. I love the creativity kids have sometimes!
